   Foster homes are needed in all parts of the country! You can make arrangements to foster one of “Monday’s Dogs” by contacting the Catahoula Rescue volunteer listed as contact for the specific dog you are interested in helping. Transportation can be arranged to bring the dog to you and from your home to a forever home. If you cannot take a dog into your home but would still like to help, you might consider becoming a "virtual foster". Virtual fosters sponsor a rescue dog's boarding costs until an adopter or foster home is found or donate towards vet bills for a sick or injured dog.
 
*Please Remember*: By adopting one of our foster dogs you save 2 lives! It frees up space for a dog in a kill shelter that needs to be pulled and vetted. If our foster dogs don't get homes, we have no room to pull any of the dogs that are listed below (most of which need vetting and evaluations by our volunteers). Catahoula Rescue, Inc. is a nonprofit, 501(c) 3 corporation staffed entirely by volunteers who try to help Catahoulas and Catahoula mixes escape needless death and find a happy home. Volunteers provide foster care and basic training for dogs that they rescue from pounds, keeping them safe and preparing them to join their new families.

Noel is a beautiful 5 yr old Catahoula, she is sweet and loving. Unfortunately her elderly owner has had an accident and can no longer take care of Noel. The neighbor is watching Noel for 1 week and then she will be taking her to the shelter. Noel is spayed, up to date on shots and house trained. She loves other dogs and people and is very playful. Please save Noel before they take her to the shelter.

UPDATE 5-4-10 This little girl has been rescued and is in a Catahoula Rescue foster home in Houston, TX. 4-30-10 This frightened little girl is in the Harris county pound in Houston, TX. This is a very high kill big city pound. This pup is only 5 months old. A Catahoula Rescue volunteer will meet her on Saturday (May 1) to evaluate for rescue. We have NO foster space. If you are in TX and can help save a life by fostering, please contact Mary ASAP. This pup will probably die on Monday if not rescued or adopted.

UPDATE 5-4-10 Chonkee will be rescued and go to a Catahoula Rescue foster home in Bryan, TX as soon as he is neutered. He is heartworm neg and up to date on vaccinations. 4-30-10 Chonkee was an owner surrender to a high kill city shelter. Reason: not ready for a dog. He is about 2 years old. Surrender notes state he is good with kids and other dogs, friendly and playful. Chonkee's hearing and vision appear to be normal.

UPDATE: These babies were rescued. Three went to the IL chapter of Catahoula Rescue and 2 to the Texas chapter. Some have been adopted, but a couple are still available. Check available dogs at www.catahoularescue.petfinder.com These 5 pups are in the Terrebonne parish pound. The 4 smaller pups are 6 - 8 weeks. The larger pup is about 12 weeks. They need out of the shelter ASAP or they will die.

UPDATE: Rescued and in fostercare in Houston. Will be vetted and ready for a new home. Very sweet, people oriented dog. Good with other dogs. This girl is in a high kill animal control facility south of Houston, TX. The facility has NO adoption progam. Dogs that are not rescued are killed. The ACO tells us that this girl is not as old as she looks. They estimate her age at about 4 years and also say that she is VERY sweet, does great with other dogs, and very friendly. Her time is up!
