Transports are a big part of rescue.  Getting a dog from a shelter to a foster home or forever home is a big challenge (in many cases the difference between life and death) and we can't do it alone. Transports are broken up into 'legs'.  Each 'leg' is approximately an hour with extra time for potty breaks. If you can take an hour or two out of your weekend to help get a dog to safety you will be helping to save a life.  There are few things more rewarding.

We have transports going all over the US and Canada as needed so if you don't see one going through your area but would like to help if one comes up please fill out our Volunteer Transport Form.

Don't like to travel? We are often in need of volunteers to pick up a dog from a local shelter and take it to the vets.  We also need people to 'overnight' dogs that are on long, multi-state transports. You can fill out the transport form too.

Apache

Northeast Texas
979-561-6115
3-11-10 Apache has been treated for heartworms and now needs transport help to get from Weatherford, TX to Baltimore, MD. If you can help, please contact Mary. 12-11-09 UPDATE Apache was neutered and vaccinated and preparing for his trip to his fosterhome in MD when we got some bad news. Apache is heavily heartworm positive. Arrangements were made for him to go to a temporary foster home near Ft. Worth so that he could be treated. Apache received his heartworm treatment last week and is doing well. He will require several weeks of quiet to recover and then he will go to his MD foster home. The cost of heartworm treatment was $400 ... a reduced rate for rescue ... and his transport costs will be about $300. This does not include the cost of basic vetting which was about $75. Donations to help Apache can be made using paypal and the email address: info@catahoularescue.com 11/16/09 Apache has been rescued and is in boarding awaiting transport to his foster home in Maryland. Thank you Chris for volunteering to foster Apache. You saved his life! Apache will be vetted this week and ready for transport by weeks end. Donations to help cover the cost of professional ground transport are appreciated. The cost will be about $300. 11/6/09 Apache is a beautiful, adult male Catahoula in a kill shelter in northeast Texas. He was picked up as a stray and appears to be purebred. The shelter is full and Apache must have an adopter or rescue committment by Monday 11/9/09 or he will be killed. The ACO says he is a friendly, very nice boy ... didn't like the camera. He is about 3 years old. Catahoula Rescue has NO foster space available. Please contact Mary at 979-561-6115 or email info@catahoularescue.com if you can help save this nice dog.
