MONDAY’S
DOGS Transports |
|---|
|
Transports are
a big part of rescue. Getting a dog from a shelter to a foster
home or forever home is a big challenge (in many cases the difference
between life and death) and we can't do it alone. Transports are broken
up into 'legs'. Each 'leg' is approximately an hour with extra
time for potty breaks. If you can take an hour or two out of your
weekend to help get a dog to safety you will be helping to save a life.
There are few things more rewarding.

Transport Needed - Spicewood
Springs, TX to St. Louis, MO Ruby |
|
Transport: Spicewood Springs, TX to St. Louis, MO.
Ruby is a 12 year old purebred Catahoula that was rescued by the National Guard
from the streets of New Orleans immediately after hurricane Katrina. She was transported
to the Lamar-Dixon facility and from there was sent to Catahoula Rescue in Texas.
Catahoula Rescue was able to locate her owner and we held out some hope that we
would be able to reunite them. However, after almost a year in foster care, Ruby's former
dad came to the realization that he would not be able to take her back. He had lost everything,
including his home, in the hurricane. Wanting the best for Ruby, he asked that Catahoula Rescue
find her a good home. Ruby has now been in foster care for almost 2 years. A wonderful woman in
the St. Louis area would like to give Ruby a permanent home. Ruby is a happy, healthy dog
with no problems. She likes other dogs and travels well. She may need a little help getting
into and out of trucks and SUVs. Ruby weighs about 60 pounds. Her foster mom can drive her
to Dallas on Tuesday, Sept. 4th arriving late afternoon. Ruby will need to overnight in
the Dallas area or perhaps a bit farther north. She'll then need transport help to the
Joplin, MO area, where she will be picked up by her new mom, Ann.
