Catahoula Rescue, Inc. is a nonprofit, 501(c) 3 corporation staffed entirely by volunteers who try to help Catahoulas and Catahoula mixes escape needless death and find a happy home. Volunteers provide foster care and basic training for dogs that they rescue from pounds, keeping them safe and preparing them to join their new families.

Foster homes are needed in all parts of the country! You can make arrangements to foster one of “Monday’s Dogs” by contacting the Catahoula Rescue volunteer listed as contact for the specific dog you are interested in helping. Transportation can be arranged to bring the dog to you and from your home to a forever home. If you cannot take a dog into your home but would still like to help, you might consider becoming a "virtual foster". Virtual fosters sponsor a rescue dog's boarding costs until an adopter or foster home is found or donate towards vet bills for a sick or injured dog.

DeeDee FL Adopt Me	DeeDee has had a rough start in life; she was adopted from a shelter & the adopter installed an electric fence and after being shocked with the shock collar Deedee was afraid to go in her back yard. Then she took her to a "trainer" who used starvation (he called it food deprivation) as a training tool! Then she was returned to the shelter only to be adopted out by someone who after 24 hrs decides she doesn't want her anymore; she didn't introduce her dog & DeeDee properly & didn't give DeeDee time to settle in after flying 8 hrs on a plane. This sweet girl deserves a break! DeeDee is 3 years old, spayed, up to date on shots, & heartworm negative. She is loving and loveable, well-behaved, enjoys walks and car rides. Keyta Blue FL Adopt Me	Keyta has had a hard life; while her owner was in jail a trucker took care of Keyta, then she gave her back to the owner only to receive a call a year later that he was homeless & would sell Keyta for $50 if she didn't come & get her. So the nice trucker lady went & got Keyta again but now she must go back on the road & can not take Keyta with her. Keyta Blue is approx 6 yrs old, she has one blue eye & one brown eye, weighs 61 lbs. She is spayed, up to date on shots & on monthly heartworm prevention. She loves other dogs, kids, boat rides, & cats are okay. Keyta Blue rides great in the car, is house trained, she hardly barks and when asked stops. There is a pond and she drinks out of it but does not swim, she has no problem with a bath or clipping nails. She does talk to you if she thinks you are not busy. She shares her water bowl with the neighbor dogs when they come to play, she loves to play, will return with rope but can't get her to let go so I can throw it again & she likes to sleep next to the bed at night. Sissy FL Adopt Me	Sissy is a beautiful 8 yr old stray Catahoula that wandered into someone's yard weak from lack of food & dehydrated. She went to the vet, is now up to date on shots & spayed. She has beautiful blue eyes, likes other dogs & kids, is very sweet & loving, & is house trained. She is heartworm + so we are going to treat her. Ranger MS Adopt Me	Ranger's daddy died, the son & daughter-in-law can not keep him: "We inherited my father-in-laws house and Ranger came with. He does not like cats so I can not keep him & we can't afford another dog. He is real friendly, I think he is about 5 years old. He has been on heart worm meds (Interceptor) and gets shots from the co-op. He is good with kids & other dogs". Anyone have room for sweet beautiful Ranger? No hearing or vision problems. UPDATE JUNE 25, 2009 They were on the way to the shelter with Dude (now renamed Ranger) when I called her on her cell phone. Patch Adams FL Adopt Me	Patch Adams is about 1 old, neutered, up to date on all shots, hw neg, and he is deaf. Patch loves to play with other dogs. He is a sweetheart! He wants love and kisses!! He is not difficult to work with at all, as far as basic behavior goes. Lots of touch, and he already has learned that a beckoning wave of my hand means "come"- after I can catch his attention!! He has a cute sassy little walk, and is cute when he sleeps so soundly and snores, he will also climb in your lap and gives kisses!! He is easy to work with, and watches hands and faces for cues. Ramie GA Adopt Me	Ramie was left tied to the front door of the vets office. He is perfectly healthy, neutered, utd on shots & HW neg, has one blue eye & one brown eye. He is approx 2 yrs old, likes other dogs, kids & is laid back. Has not been tested with cats. He herds the goats at the vets office & jumps a 6ft fence so he can not be left outside unattended. He is the sweetest boy and super friendly, but his days are spent in a tiny kennel in a vets office. Pete Dallas, TX Adopt Me	Poor Pete is really in need of some help. He is an 8 yr old boy who has been the perfect dog, house trained & loves his canine buddy. His owner has recently adopted a toddler & Pete is just not sure about the little one & the owner is needing to rehome him. He did snap but most any dog could do that with a toddler they don't know. Pepper is a beautiful 10 month old female Catahoula. Pepper's owner said she doesn't have time for sweet Pepper so she is going to dump her at the shelter where she will be killed if we can't find her a home. Pepper is spayed, up to date on shots, on monthly heartworm protection, & microchipped. She is crate trained, very playful, friendly and is a very happy dog. She does dig under the fence if left out. Pepper likes kids & other dogs but has not been tested with cats. She walks good on a leash & likes car rides.

Thor & Julie Nebraska Adopt Me	Thor & Julie's parents need to rehome them because they no longer have enough time for them. They say, "This is NOT a behavior issue. Thor had some issues when our first baby started walking, but we hired a trainer and everything is great. The kids (2 and 1) can do anything to the dogs and the dogs take it. Thor is a Flyball Dog Excellent, but we haven't done flyball in a couple years. They took agility lessons a couple years ago and did great. Thor is 6 years old. Julie is about 4 or so-ish. Gatsby FL Adopt Me	Gatsby is a beautiful 2 yr old Purebred Catahoula, he is neutered, up to date on shots, microchipped, crate and house trained. He is so sweet and likes to play with other dogs, is good with cats, and loves kids, he also knows sit, stay and down. Gatsby walks great on a leash and rides in the car really well. He loves to play fetch and will be your best friend. Gatsby was found wandering the streets so he was very skinny, he has gained weight now and is very healthy. Gatsby was diagnosed as having an ACL rupture in his right knee and thanks to all of the very generous donations Gatsby had his surgery. Gatsby has recouperated with out any complications and is ready to run in the dog park and go to his forever home if someone will open up their heart and home to him. ~Coachella~ California Thousand Palms 92276 805-610-3360 Adopt Me	Coachella is very submissive: we think she was beaten by her previous owners. She is very cautious when meeting strangers or going to new places, but she does want to love and be loved. If you sit down on the ground and wait for her to come to you, she will cuddle up to you for a head rub. Coachella has had a hard life so far... she has had a litter of pups, she has some cuts that are healing up, and she is very thin. She is receiving good care at a boarding facility, but her time there is almost up, and she needs a guardian angel to take her in. UPDATE: She has one week left. She needs a foster volunteer or sponsor by 12/8 SECOND UPDATE: She is still in boarding. She is coming around nicely and realizing she can trust again. Such a sweet girl, she is ready to go to a new home. UPDATE: She is in a temorary foster home. She has healed very nicely and is enjoying long walks.
