Foster homes are needed in all parts of the country! You can make arrangements to foster one of “Monday’s Dogs” by contacting the Catahoula Rescue volunteer listed as contact for the specific dog you are interested in helping. Transportation can be arranged to bring the dog to you and from your home to a forever home. If you cannot take a dog into your home but would still like to help, you might consider becoming a "virtual foster". Virtual fosters sponsor a rescue dog's boarding costs until an adopter or foster home is found or donate towards vet bills for a sick or injured dog.

*Please Remember*: By adopting one of our foster dogs you save 2 lives! It frees up space for a dog in a kill shelter that needs to be pulled and vetted. If our foster dogs don't get homes, we have no room to pull any of the dogs that are listed below (most of which need vetting and evaluations by our volunteers). Help us Help more dogs, check out the links above...Adopt a Foster Dog!

Catahoula Rescue, Inc. is a nonprofit, 501(c) 3 corporation staffed entirely by volunteers who try to help Catahoulas and Catahoula mixes escape needless death and find a happy home. Volunteers provide foster care and basic training for dogs that they rescue from pounds, keeping them safe and preparing them to join their new families.

Grayson
Austin

Adopt Me

11/16/09 No one volunteered to foster this sweet boy but we couldn't let him die. Grayson was rescued and is in temporary boarding near Austin, TX. We know there is a family that is looking for a dog just like Grayson, but he desperately needs a place to stay until that family finds him. Grayson MUST BE OUT OF THE BOARDING FACILITY by Saturday Nov 21st. Please help save a life and consider fostering Grayson. 10/20/09Grayson is a very frightened boy. He was picked up as a stray and put in a cage and is very confused and scared by all the sounds of doggy jail. He is very sweet and calm, but needs to get out so he can gain back his confidence. Please help us save this sweet boy. I know this picture is bad - but he is absolutely gorgeous~!

Sadie
Tennessee

Adopt Me

Sadie is in dire urgency. She is in temporary foster care in Tennessee. She is part of a group of dogs we call the "Frontier Dogs", they come from many different walks of life and sadly we do not know all of their stories, and hopefully the next chapters of their lives will be written with much tenderness and happiness. We call them the “Frontier Dogs” because they will now be are entering a new frontier. Many were taken from shelters and abusive situations with the best of intentions, only to have them end up back in a similar and in some ways much worse situation. Now for many this will be their third and forth chance at new a beginning, and this time there CAN be no failure, they will be entering a fresh “Frontier”, a new beginning. Please open your hearts to these dogs. They are all gentle souls, with big hearts, that need love, time and patience. If you cannot adopt, please donate or foster. We need help in many forms of contributions, whether it is food, medical, or homes. Anything you can spare is appreciated. Name: Sadie ID: FD06 Breed: Australian Shepherd, Border Collie, Maybe some Catahoula Gender: Female Age: 1.5 Good w/ Dogs: Unknown Good w/ Cats: Unknown Good w/Children: Not recommended Temperament: Timid; fearful; She has never bitten, she will just need patience and understanding.

UPDATE 10-4-09 Robby was rescued just in the nick of time thanks to the soft heart of a Catahoula Rescue foster mom. He is now in foster care near Beaumont, TX and doing great. He gets along wonderfully with the other dogs and has learned that the cats aren't for his amusement. Robby is an active, friendly puppy and ready for a home of his own. Rob has less than 24 hours. He dies 9-10-09. He appears to be about 4 or 5 months old. He's in a kill shelter that is moving to a new facility. They are only taking 10 dogs with them and Rob didn't make the cut. If you can help save Rob, please CALL Mary immediately.

Adopt Me

UPDATE 10-4-09 Faith and Boy are now in a Catahoula Rescue foster home in Industry, TX, northwest of Houston. They have adjusted well to their new surroundings and play nicely with all the other dogs. Faith loves her toys and accumlates them in her "hope" chest. She's hoping for a home of her own soon. Faith and her brother Big Boy were rescued as puppies from the Montgomery county animal shelter by an individual in Conroe. This person is now moving into a home that does not allow pets. Big Boy and Faith will go back to the shelter if they are not adopted or fostered by Wednesday 9-9-09. We're told that Faith is good with kids, cats and other dogs and loves to be with people.
